According to an Engadget article, Japan isn’t particularly happy with Apple. It would seem that the older iPod Nano units have a tendency to explode, causing house fires and general burny-ness ! Now I’m no business expert, but I’m pretty sure having an entire country shouting at you aint good !

The culprit is model MA099J/A — AKA, the original iPod Nano. Best don your flame-proof coat next time you turn yours on!
