Now this is the kind of thing I bought an iPhone for ! Orb, the guys who have been giving us ways to stream content to pretty much anything have today released OrbLive. This little gem, available here, allows Windows users (if I’m missing an OS X version let me know!) to stream TV via the wonders of the internet. Then, using an app downloaded via installer you can watch said stream anywhere. Well, in theory anyway !

Unfortunately I’m running OS X, and I don’t have a compatible TV card. Hopefully someone will come along and let us know how well it works….or not as the case may well be.

Until then, I’ll leave you with this video I just found on YouTube. Enjoy.

This sounds GREAT in theory but for me there’s still quite a few question marks. If you’re streaming your own recorded content, what about bandwith limitations (on my home connection, I’ve only got 50Kbps upload)? What about file format issues - my tuner records in MPEG-2 and iPhone can’t play that natively.

Oh well, nothing ventured…etc. I’ll install Orb on my media server later on - which is about 50 Miles away - and see if we get anywhere!

I would imagine it transcodes it somehow. I’m no video expert though.
