Something sinister this way comes..(not really!)

Riddle me this….
Well, it appears we may be on the cusp of the much revered iPhone mk 2. The cheeky chappies over at macrumors(sic) have once again started the rumour mill turning with their analysis of the current situation.
It was assumed that Apple would save the release of the mk 2 for WWDC in June, but given the fact that there appears to be no UK or US stock 8gb iPhones anywhere on the planet - it now means that they may have to make the announcement earlier than anticipated.
Macrumors(sic), Arnold Kim writes:
The reason for a pre-WWDC announcement? Reportedly, Apple would instead announce a brand new portable device at WWDC. No other details of what this device might be, but there have been rumors that Apple was developing a mini-tablet multitouch device for launch in 2008. This PDA-like device would reportedly have a higher screen resolution (720×480) and be about 1.5x the size of the existing iPhone.
Repubblica.it first reported (in April) that they expected the Italian 3G iPhone launch “in the next few weeks”, suggesting a May launch. While Telecom Italia and Vodofone did announce their intentions to supply the iPhone in Italy, no formal announcement had been made from Apple. Meanwhile, Apple’s supply of iPhones has dwindled to nothing and our retail sources have indicated that they too will not be receiving many (if any) more iPhone shipments, leading many to speculate that the 3G-capable iPhone launch will be sooner than expected.
As usual, take these rumours how you will, but ’something is a’ brewin’. We’ll just have to wait and see what!

I dunno - it may be useful for creative types.. maybe if it could somehow upscale its display for use with a monitor… but I dunno.. the iphone seems the perfect platform to develop for.. hmm!

Not sure I’d find a use for a tablet. If it wasn’t for the iPhone, yeah, but not so sure now.
