Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2008: Schedule
It’s almost that time of year again, so let’s get a little excited shall we..
Just the weekend seperates us from the next milestone in Apple history, and possibly the most hyped product since iPhone v1 launched last June in the US of A; iPhone.. the second coming!
Needless to say, when I got this little Google Calendar reminder I almost hyperventialled.

“Response to this year’s WWDC has been off the charts and we are delighted with the show of enthusiasm and support from the developer community for the new iPhone SDK,” Apple spokesman Bill Evans told Macworld. “The conference is now sold out. For those unable to attend WWDC, session videos will be available to purchase on iTunes shortly after the conference.”
So what exactly is expected?
The rumoured products thus far include;
- Revamped .Mac service (to include push mail and mobile component, renamed to “me” and “mobile me”)
- iPhone V2 (to include 3G chipset, bigger battery and GPS)
- iPhone Firmware 2.0 (for V1 and V2 products.. introducting the App store)
- MacBook Pro bumps (Rumors of a redesign at the next CPU update.. so expect this to be small)
- “Mac tablet” using touchscreen technologies, bigger than an iPhone (I really doubt this!)
- Updated Apple Cinema Display (with iSight) (They are VERY overdue, last updated August 2007)
- A sneak peek at Mac OS X 10.6 “Snow Leopard” (Early developer builds!)
- Hopefully another great “One more thing” moment too.. come on Steve, it’s been a while!!
Also worth noting that Apple US is having a back to school sale beginning on the 3rd of June. This usual promotion is used to clear iPod stock, and usually points to the arrival of new iPods, however, September is the usual release date. Take this as you will, but it would be a nice time to bump the iPod Touch line.
How can I watch the keynote?
The simple answer is, you can’t, not unless you have a ticket, or you come back to the iBlog.
Apple does not stream the event online, and live streaming from other sites is usually thin on the ground / non-existant. We will try to post as much breaking-news tidbits as they are unveilled, so be sure to bookmark the homepage and check back at 6:00pm GMT.
Alternatively, the event can be watched later that day (June 9th) at 10:00pm GMT from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/guide/appleevents/, or you can download a high quality version from iTunes 24hrs AFTER the event has finished. This download usually weighs in at 1-2GB, so expect the servers to be choked when it appears.

If you’ve been invited to the event (lucky developer you are!) , or if you can supply us with any unique pictures from the bay area (Apple-related), be sure to email us and we’ll add them to the gallery!
