In today’s connected world, more and more of our life is spent online, using various websites day in day out. Be it social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook or Flickr, we can have numerous tabs open in our browsers all the time. Wouldn’t it be neat if they were stand alone apps?

Well now they are !

Fluid.app gives you a way to make any website into an application, launch-able from your dock, desktop or anywhere for that matter. I use it for Hahlo (a Twitter client) and it makes things much more manageable. You can even set your own icon, or use the site’s favicon if it has one.

Another cool feature is the ability to set the opacity levels. So, for example, you can have the window pretty much see-through should you want to be able to continue to work behind it. To this end, you can also change how the window is shown. Want the app to be embedded into the desktop, or always on top? No problem !

Fluid.app is a must have app for any OS X power user, or even if you just have a few regular sites.
