Metal Gear Solid coming for the iPhone/Touch

Metal Gear Solid has been a huge IP for Konami over the years, with games available on all kinds of platforms like Playstation, PS2, PS3 and GameCube. It would appear we can now add the iPhone and iPod Touch to the list ! That’s right folks, Apple’s entry into the mobile gaming market (I’ve read it can also be used to call people!) will get its very own MGS game. Could this be the first ‘real’ game for the platform?


There’s not a whole lot of information about the title, but what we do know is it will include the characters from Metal Gear Solid 4 and will ship with 8 levels with more to be available later. DLC seems to be all the rage these days, and the iPhone is no different.

As for screenshots, there’s only two floating around so far. They do, however, look pretty neat.

I for one can’t wait to get my hands on this. Lets hope it’s not too long before it’s available and it isn’t priced like a normal game and more App Store-like. I reckon I’d be happy to pay £9.99, what about you?

I had a rant on the apple ocuk forums because I was getting sick of seeing games being released on the platform as a cash-in, whilst the platform instead needs some serious top end apps and utilities :) Getting tired of companies talking about short games and little else.

@Darren – Have you bought Sim City ? Seems to be the most ‘normal’ game yet, works really well. Expect a post about it when I’ve spent more time with it.

I had thought about it as I have Sim3000 on this PC and the screens of the iPhone version have identical sprites. I just can’t see myself getting adjusted to the interface. Look forward to your review for sure! :)
