Emoji icons finally land on my iPhone
It seems the interwebs are abuzz with the latest iPhone craze: Emoji icons ! For the uninitiated (such as myself until yesterday!), Emoji icons are cute little pictures that Japanese people have been using to brighten up SMS messages for aeons. Now, thanks to an application on the App Store, we can join in the fun and there’s no hacking necessary. The best bit ? It appears to be completely by accident !
The application you’ll be wanting to install is called Frosty Place (iTunes link) and currently runs at a very reasonable £0.59p (99c in the US I believe, I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong!). Instead of listing the steps in boring old text I thought I’d let the lovely iJustine explain in video form.
Hands above the desks boys !
Two things to note: if this doesn’t work first time for you, keep trying. I had to open an entry inside the application and then click on a link from there before I got the Emoji option. It’s a bit fiddly, but it does work.
Also, this only currently works if you are running the 2.2 firmware. An updated app is on its way for 2.2.1 according the the developers, so hang in there folks !
Do you use Emoji icons ?
