First of all, I apologise to whoever tweeted this link in the first place. I can’t remember where I got it from, so can’t give you credit. Regardless, good find mystery tweeter !

With that out of the way – are you missing a couple of buttons since ‘upgrading’ to your Magic Mouse ? Having to use hot corners for launching Expose or Spaces? Not for long!

I’ve spend the lat 30 minutes or so playing around with a rather fabulous little app named BetterTouchTool. BTT as the developer calls it, allows you to assign various swiping and clicking activities to different keyboard shortcuts. There are all sorts of fancy options open to you after installing this free app.

Want an example?

I currently have my Magic Mouse set up thus:

With BTT set like this, I can swipe up with two fingers, and launch Expose. Swiping down basically presses F5, which is mapped to Spaces. Simple, but very affective. The mouse does a great job of realising when you’re swiping with varying numbers of fingers, so accidental launching and scrolling doesn’t appear to be an issue. All good stuff !

One interesting option is a three fingered tap. With this enabled, you don’t even have to physically click the mouse, just tap it like a trackpad. Now if they can turn that on for left and right click, I’ll be very happy indeed !

Where can I download this little app of wonder I hear you cry ? Point your browser of choice at http://blog.boastr.net/?p=435 and download away. Obviously this is a work in progress, but considering its current state, this app’s going to be very, very good in the future. Highly recommended!

Have you created any interesting gesture and shortcut combos ?
