I’m not usually one for third party browsers, and until now had absolutely zero interest in seeing Opera Mini hit the iPhone. I say ‘until now’ as I’ve just watched a mind-blowing demo of Opera Mini 5 running on an iPhone over an EDGE network. Loading nytimes.com, Opera managed to pull down 5 (count ‘em, FIVE) pages in the time Mobile Safari rendered the first page. Wow!

The only issue now is whether the big A will allow this onto the App Store. My gut feeling is there’s more chance of me walking into Megan Fox on the way into work tomorrow morning, but you never do know.
