Well, it appears they slipped this one under the radar!
Whilst perusing Macworld yesterday, I noticed an article by Mark Hattersley setting out the new pricing structures for people wishing to purchase the iPhone 3G on its release date, which is currently anticipated to be July 11th.
So, here goes..

It’s now been 24 hours since we were given the green light for iPhone 3G. All the hype is dying down, as is my pulse ! So, in the cold hard light of day the question is this: will you be throwing out your V1 iPhone in favour of the all-plastic 3G version?

The waiting is finally over, and today saw the official announcement of the 3G iPhone. We got pretty much what we expected, with a couple of notable absences.
What we got:

3G network support
GPS ability
Flush headphone jack – no more adapters
What we didn’t get:

Dual cameras – still no video chat
MMS – Apple obviously still thinks Email is [...]

Leander Kahney has posted over on Cult of Mac that ‘ a programmer at a major software publisher’ has stated that the new iPhone will be thinner than the current model, whilst boasting more features.
The post suggests we can expect 3G obviously enough, along with GPS, better battery life and twice as much memory. [...]
